Connor+Gaskins Studio Completes Construction of MHK Architecture’s New Office in Downtown Sarasota
Connor+Gaskins Studio has completed construction of MHK Architecture’s new Sarasota office, bringing new life to a nearly century-old building in the city’s downtown historic district while creating a polished, modern workplace for one of the region’s leading architecture firms and its expanding national footprint.
Located at 500 Central Ave., the 3,817-square-foot office is now open following a 16-week complete interior renovation. The project included interior demolition, framing, drywall, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, all new interior finishes and signage.

Originally built in the early 1930s, the downtown structure offered a distinctive setting for MHK Architecture’s new Sarasota office. Connor+Gaskins Studio worked within the existing building to help create a refreshed professional environment that supports the firm’s daily operations while maintaining a connection to the character and history of the surrounding district.
“Renovating an older building in a historic downtown setting requires a thoughtful balance of precision, coordination and respect for the existing structure,” said Clay Olson, assistant project manager at Connor+Gaskins Studio. “This project reflects our team’s ability to deliver detailed commercial spaces that feel current and functional while honoring the unique qualities that make a building memorable.”
The completed office gives MHK Architecture a renewed presence in downtown Sarasota, bringing new energy to a building rooted in the city’s architectural past. The project also highlights Connor+Gaskins Studio’s experience with boutique commercial renovations, particularly projects that require careful coordination and detailed execution. MHK Architecture’s new Sarasota office is now open at 500 Central Ave.
